The Itinerary
Day 1 - Welcome to Albania
Our journey begins in Tirana, Albania's vibrant capital, where colorful buildings, lively cafés and a fascinating history create a unique atmosphere. A private transfer takes you from Tirana International Airport to the hotel, with time to settle in at your own pace.
In the evening, we gather for a special welcome dinner of Albanian specialties, ideally with a touch of traditional music. More than a dinner, it is the beginning of new friendships and shared memories.
Day 2 - Flavors of Tirana & Communism Through Local Eyes
A guided walking tour reveals Tirana's blend of Ottoman, Italian and communist-era influences. At the lively Green Market, we sample traditional flavors and learn about the ingredients that define Albanian cuisine.
The afternoon is free, with an optional visit to Bunk'Art. In the evening, Communism & Cocktails brings us together with a local expert in a retro-inspired bar for an honest conversation about everyday life, and the lives of women, in one of Europe's most isolated societies of the twentieth century.
Day 3 - Berat & Family Winemaking
We travel south to Berat, the City of a Thousand Windows, famous for its white Ottoman houses cascading down the hillside. A guided walk through its UNESCO-listed historic center brings its stories and traditions to life.
In the surrounding countryside, a family-run boutique winery welcomes us for a guided tasting of local grape varieties, paired with regional specialties and warm Albanian hospitality.
Day 4 - Mount Tomorr & a Mountain Picnic
Traveling by 4x4, we explore the spectacular landscapes of Mount Tomorr, a mountain of deep spiritual significance for the Bektashi, a Sufi tradition. A gentle walk of about one hour, at a comfortable pace, lets us slow down and breathe in the fresh mountain air.
A beautifully prepared picnic of local products, enjoyed in a scenic natural setting, is one of the highlights of the day before we return to Berat for a relaxing evening.
Day 5 - The Albanian Riviera by Private Boat
We head to the coast at Vlorë and settle into our seaside hotel. In the afternoon, a private boat takes us along the Karaburun Peninsula, with secluded coves, dramatic coastal scenery and crystal-clear turquoise water.
There is time to swim, snorkel and simply unwind, with a freshly prepared fish picnic and, weather permitting, golden sunset light over the sea. Stand-up paddleboarding may be available as an optional activity. The final boat itinerary depends on weather and sea conditions.
Day 6 - Krujë, Women Artisans & Farm-to-Table
We travel north to Krujë, a historic town closely tied to Albania's national hero, Skanderbeg, and stroll through its charming Old Bazaar. Here we hope to meet local women who are preserving traditional crafts and creating opportunities in their communities.
Later, we continue to one of Albania's most celebrated agritourism estates, in the peaceful countryside near Lezhë, known for its farm-to-table philosophy. A culinary experience of seasonal ingredients and authentic flavors is followed by a night surrounded by the tranquility of rural Albania.
Day 7 - Farewell Albania or Continue the Adventure
After breakfast, our main journey comes to an end. We take home vibrant cities, ancient traditions, mountain air, the turquoise coast and, above all, the connections made along the way.
Private individual transfers take you to Tirana International Airport according to your flight. For those joining the optional Montenegro extension, the adventure continues as we cross the border to the north.
End of the main Albania journey.
Day 7 - Crossing into Montenegro
For those continuing the journey, we travel to the breathtaking Bay of Kotor, where steep mountains rise straight out of the Adriatic Sea.
After settling into our boutique hotel overlooking the bay, the rest of the day is yours to relax, take in the views or explore the waterfront, and recharge before discovering Montenegro.
Day 8 - Perast & Our Lady of the Rocks
We explore Perast, an elegant waterfront town of Venetian palaces, and take a short boat trip to Our Lady of the Rocks, an artificial island with a historic church and centuries-old local legends.
At a local, ideally family-run, oyster and mussel farm, we meet the people behind the bay's seafood traditions and taste freshly prepared oysters and mussels against the spectacular backdrop of Boka Bay.
Day 9 - Lake Skadar & Boutique Wines
Leaving the coast for the day, we venture inland to Lake Skadar National Park, known for its peaceful landscapes and remarkable biodiversity, ideally with a private boat trip to a secluded monastery.
Later, a boutique winery introduces us to the distinctive character of Montenegrin wines, with a tasting accompanied by regional specialties, before we return to Kotor.
Day 10 - Njeguši & Family Traditions
A scenic drive into the mountains above the Bay of Kotor brings us to Njeguši, famous for its smoked prosciutto, local cheeses and rakija. With a local family, we visit a traditional smokehouse and learn how Montenegrin pršut is prepared and cured.
A relaxed meal of local products and time with our hosts complete a day about understanding Montenegro through its people. We return to Kotor for our final evening, with a farewell dinner planned for the group.
Day 11 - Until We Meet Again
After a final breakfast overlooking the Bay of Kotor, private individual transfers take you to Tivat Airport according to your flight.
We leave Montenegro with much more than photographs and souvenirs: new perspectives, lasting memories and the friendships formed by sharing this journey together.
