The Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Lima
Arrive in Lima, where the Pacific Ocean meets one of the world's great food capitals.
You'll be welcomed at the airport and transferred to your hotel, with time to rest after your international journey.
In the evening, we gather for the first time inside the oldest colonial house in Lima, still home to the same family after 17 generations, for a welcome dinner where Peru begins to unfold.
Day 2 - Barranco, Ceviche & Cacao
A slow morning, then an afternoon devoted to Lima's most bohemian neighborhood.
Walk through Barranco with a local guide, past the Bridge of Sighs, ocean-view promenades and a gallery of contemporary Peruvian art, stopping along the way for artisanal ice cream, a classic ceviche and a Pisco Sour.
Later, taste internationally awarded Peruvian chocolate and freshly roasted organic coffee, before dinner at one of Lima's most loved Creole restaurants.
Day 3 - Into the Sacred Valley
Fly to Cusco and descend into the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the gentlest way to meet the Andes.
Meet llamas and alpacas up close, wander the colorful stalls of Pisaq market, and visit a family hacienda that grows the valley's famous giant maize, followed by a four-course lunch among the fields.
The afternoon is intentionally quiet. Settle into your hotel, breathe, and let your body adjust to the altitude.
Day 4 - Machu Picchu
Today, a dream many women carry for years becomes real.
Step outside and board a panoramic train through the valley to Aguas Calientes. At Machu Picchu, begin with an easy hike to Inti Punku, the Sun Gate and the original Inca entrance to the citadel. Llamas often graze freely along the path, and the walk gives you a real sense of how remote and how exclusive this place has always been.
Then, with your guide, explore the Lost City of the Incas from the inside, through its temples, terraces, homes and ceremonial spaces, not only from the famous viewpoints.
After lunch, return by train to the Sacred Valley, with the kind of silence that only follows a day like this.
Day 5 - Pachamanca, A Feast from the Earth
A slower day, by design.
After breakfast, witness a Pachamanca, the ancestral Andean feast cooked underground on hot stones, and share it together around a long table.
The rest of the day is yours. Rest at the hotel, walk through its own farm and taste what grows there, or wander the village of Ollantaytambo, where there are stones with a story on every corner: the great Ollantaytambo archaeological site and its Temple of the Sun, the Pinkuylluna storehouses on the hillside, Quellorakay, Inkapintay and the statue of the Inca heroine Ñusta Kura Oqllo.
Day 6 - Maras, Moray & Lunch at MIL
Visit the Maras salt pans, thousands of shimmering pools still harvested by hand as they were before the Incas, then the circular terraces of Moray, believed to be an Inca agricultural laboratory.
Lunch today is an experience in itself: a table at MIL, one of the most exclusive restaurants in Peru, set right above Moray. It is the only place where you can take in the circular terraces in full, while each course of the tasting menu tells the story of a different Andean ecosystem.
In the afternoon, we travel to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire.
Day 7 - Cusco: Markets, Cooking & Inca Stone
A full day in Cusco. At around 11,150 ft (3,400 m), we are now at considerable altitude, so listen to your body and take it slowly.
Begin at Koricancha, the Temple of the Sun and once the most sacred place in the Inca world.
Then explore San Pedro Market, tasting native potatoes, fruits and cheeses, before cooking a Peruvian lunch together in a hands-on class.
In the afternoon, stand before the giant stone walls of Sacsayhuaman and the ceremonial site of Qenqo. The evening ends with dinner, Andean music and dance.
Day 8 - The Women Weavers of Misminay
Begin at Oxalis by Manuel Choqque, the Cusco farmer and agronomist who is reinventing native potatoes and ocas, then browse the colorful Chinchero market.
In the community of Misminay, sit with the women who keep ancestral Andean weaving alive. Learn their tools, their techniques and the meaning woven into every pattern, and share a traditional lunch with them.
This is the highest day of the journey, at around 12,300 ft (3,750 m). That is why, back at your hotel in Cusco, a 45-minute oxygen therapy session is waiting to help you relax and acclimatize.
Day 9 - Rainbow Mountain or A Day to Breathe
Today, you choose.
For the adventurous: a full-day excursion to Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain, the quieter alternative to Vinicunca. The hike begins at around 15,750 ft (4,800 m) and is relatively short, about an hour among colored peaks and a stone forest, up to the main viewpoint at close to 16,075 ft (4,900 m). A gourmet picnic follows, and the day ends with dinner inside the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art in Cusco.
For those who prefer stillness: a full therapeutic massage, a private yoga class and time in the jacuzzi and sauna, with the afternoon free to explore Cusco at your own pace.
Day 10 - Farewell to Peru
Enjoy a final breakfast in Cusco before your transfer to the airport and your flight to Lima, connecting with your journey home.
You leave with much more than photographs. The taste of ceviche by the Pacific, the first sight of Machu Picchu, the hands of the weavers of Misminay, and the women who shared it all with you.

Your Questions, Answered
-
Yes. Peru is one of South America's most rewarding destinations for women traveling solo, especially when the logistics are taken care of. A Landscape of Wonder is a small-group journey for women only, with private transportation, expert local guides, carefully selected hotels and organized experiences from Lima to Cusco. You arrive on your own, but you never have to navigate Peru alone.
-
Yes. A Landscape of Wonder is designed exclusively for women and limited to a small group of 6 to 14 travelers. Our journeys are created for women traveling on their own, so the group quickly becomes a circle of like-minded women sharing Machu Picchu, long lunches and stories along the way.

Over 10 days and 9 nights we travel through Lima, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Machu Picchu and Cusco. Highlights include Lima's bohemian Barranco district, Pisac market, the Maras salt pans, the circular terraces of Moray, the weaving community of Misminay, Chinchero, Koricancha, San Pedro market and Sacsayhuaman.
-
Yes. Day 4 is dedicated to Machu Picchu. We travel through the Andes aboard the panoramic Vistadome train and explore the Inca citadel with our guide. Train tickets and entrance fees are included, so all you have to do is take it in.
-
The itinerary is designed to help you adjust gently. After Lima at sea level, we stay first in the Sacred Valley, which sits lower than Cusco, before moving up to the city, at around 3,400 m (11,150 ft), later in the trip. The highest point of the main program is Day 8, at around 3,750 m (12,300 ft), which is why an oxygen therapy session is included that evening. The optional Rainbow Mountain hike on Day 9 reaches close to 4,900 m (16,075 ft). The pace is unhurried, and we always recommend speaking with your doctor before traveling to high altitude.
-
No. This is a cultural journey, not a trekking expedition. We reach Machu Picchu by train, travel in private vehicles and keep a comfortable pace. There is one easy hike at Machu Picchu, up to the Sun Gate, and you should feel comfortable walking on uneven ground and climbing stone steps at archaeological sites. The only demanding altitude is on the optional Rainbow Mountain day, where a short hike takes you from around 4,800 m to close to 4,900 m (about 16,000 ft). If you prefer, you can choose the wellness day instead.
-
It's your choice. On Day 9 you can head out to Palcoyo, the quieter Rainbow Mountain, and end the day with a farewell dinner in Cusco, or you can stay in the city for a slow day of massage, private yoga and jacuzzi time. Both options are part of the journey.

Peru is one of the world's great food destinations and this journey celebrates it: a food tour through Barranco, a chocolate and coffee tasting, a hacienda lunch in the Sacred Valley, a traditional Pachamanca cooked in the earth, a cooking class in Cusco that begins at San Pedro market and a tasting-menu lunch at MIL, above the terraces of Moray. Daily breakfast and the meals mentioned in the itinerary are included.
-
October falls at the end of the Andean dry season, with spring arriving in the Sacred Valley and fewer visitors than in the peak months of June to August. It is a lovely time for Machu Picchu, market days and long lunches outdoors. Mountain weather can change quickly, so layers are your best friend.
