You may arrive solo, but the goal is for you to feel part of something from the very beginning.
-
You should fly into Cartagena, Colombia (CTG — Rafael Núñez International Airport) and fly out of Medellín, Colombia (MDE — José María Córdova International Airport).
The journey begins in Cartagena and ends in Medellín, and your private individual airport arrival and departure transfers are included as part of the program.
-
The rhythm of the trip is balanced and intentional. Some days are relaxed, with beach time, scenic walks, or lakeside moments, while others are more active, with markets, dancing, nature experiences, and cultural visits. The overall activity level is moderate, including walking tours, light hikes, boat rides, and a dance class, so you should feel comfortable being on your feet and open to moving through different environments.
-
You’ll want to pack for warm Caribbean days, cooler mountain weather, and colorful, expressive moments.
Bring light, breathable clothes for Cartagena and the Rosario Islands, such as sundresses, linen pieces, swimsuits, sandals, a hat, and sunglasses. For Bogotá, pack layers, the city sits at a higher altitude and can feel much cooler, especially in the mornings and evenings. For Medellín and Guatapé, comfortable casual outfits, light layers, and easy daywear work perfectly.
You’ll also want comfortable walking shoes for city tours, markets, Comuna 13, and countryside experiences, plus a nicer outfit or two for welcome and farewell dinners. Don’t forget swimwear, a cover-up, sunscreen, insect repellent, and something fun to dance in for the salsa or champeta experiences.
-
You’ll experience three very different sides of Colombia: Cartagena, Bogotá, and Medellín. In Cartagena, you’ll enjoy Caribbean color, colonial streets, local markets, cooking, dancing, and the Rosario Islands. Part of the journey takes place in Bogotá, which sits at a higher altitude than Cartagena and Medellín. The itinerary is intentionally paced to allow time for rest, hydration, and adjustment, especially when we first arrive in the city. Most travelers adapt well, but it’s important to listen to your body, drink plenty of water, avoid overexerting yourself on the first day in Bogotá, and speak with your doctor before traveling if you have any concerns. Travel and medical insurance is mandatory for this trip, so you’ll need to have coverage in place before departure.
